Scholarship Opportunities for the Fascia Research Congress 2025

The Fascia Research Society is proud to offer several merit and need based scholarships to support participation in the upcoming Fascia Research Congress, August 10–14, 2025 in New Orleans. These awards are made possible by the generosity and vision of our Board, individual donors, and founding members of the fascia research community. We are committed to ensuring that financial barriers do not prevent meaningful voices from contributing to the global dialogue on fascia science.

FRS Board of Directors Scholarship

Congress Access Support for Students and Emerging Researchers

The FRS Board of Directors Scholarship was created to support students and professionals who demonstrate both merit and financial need. Thanks to the stewardship of the current Fascia Research Society Board, who guided the organization through financial uncertainty, we are now able to offer this opportunity to individuals who may otherwise be unable to attend.

​

This fund was made possible through the commitment of the Fascia Research Society Board, who worked to ensure the success and sustainability of this Congress. Now that we are on stable footing, we’re honored to offer support to those who might not otherwise be able to attend.

​

The Fund aims to uplift emerging voices in fascia research—especially those who show promise and dedication, but face financial or systemic barriers to participation. We believe the field grows stronger when it includes a diversity of voices, especially those committed to fascia research.

 

The Scholarship covers:

  • Congress registration at student pricing

  • A hotel room from August 10–14, 2025

 

Eligibility:

  • Students or career researchers 

  • Financial need and academic/professional merit

  • Open to applicants globally

  • Applicants from underrepresented and developing countries will be given priority​

Submit a one-page document including:

1. Full name, contact information, country of residence

2. Academic/Professional Status (e.g., student, resident, early-career researcher  or clinician)

3. Institutional affiliation (if applicable)

4. A Link to CV (may include with documentation as supplement) or professional webpage

5. Personal Statement (300–500 words):

  • Your current work or research focus

  • Why attending the Fascia Research Congress is important to you

  • Financial Need and Access Barriers: Describe your financial situation, including any other funding sources you have applied for or received (e.g., institutional support, private donations, grants, or scholarships), and specify the amounts awarded, if applicable

  • How you hope to contribute to or grow within the fascia research community

Wang & Pinon Scholarship

Supporting Underrepresented and Women Researchers in Fascia Science

​

The Wang & Pinon Fund supports emerging researchers—particularly women and those from underrepresented or resource-limited backgrounds—who are contributing to the advancement of fascia research, integrative health, and clinical innovation. This scholarship aims to reduce systemic and financial barriers to participation in the global fascia research community.
 

The Wang & Pinon Fund was established to support emerging researchers and clinicians in fascia science—particularly women and individuals from underrepresented or resource-limited backgrounds—who are contributing to the advancement of fascia research. This includes scholars not only from developing countries but also from underserved communities within developed nations who face financial or systemic barriers to participation in the global scientific community.

About the Founders

 

Tina J. Wang, MD
A physician-scientist focused on fascia and connective tissue disorders, with a special interest in ultrasound-based evaluation of hypermobility syndromes. Her lived experiences, as an Asian American woman in academic medicine have informed her commitment to opening doors for others navigating similar barriers.

Oscar Pinon

A lifelong advocate for fascia health and equity, Oscar’s experience growing up in poverty and facing racial and socioeconomic barriers in the United States fuels his passion for creating inclusive opportunities.


Together, they established this fund to support brilliant, underserved voices in fascia science. Their shared vision is rooted in equity, access, and the belief that diverse perspectives strengthen scientific progress.


The Wang & Pinon Fund supports the next generation of fascia researchers—creating a more inclusive, innovative, and connected scientific community.

 

The Scholarship covers:

  • Partial financial support toward Fascia Research Congress registration and/or travel costs

  • Award amounts are  based on demonstrated financial need, number of applicants, and available funds

  • Applicable to the Fascia Research Congress and affiliated educational events

Eligibility:

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Identify as an underrepresented researcher or as a woman researcher in fascia science

  • Demonstrate both academic/professional merit and financial need

  • Open to applicants worldwide, with priority for applicants from developing countries or marginalized communities in developed nations

Thomas W. Findley Fellowship

In Honor of the Co-Founder of the Fascia Research Congress

Generously funded by Carla & Antonio Stecco

Dr. Thomas W. Findley, MD, PhD, co-founded the Fascia Research Congress and served as its first Executive Director. A pioneer in fascia science and physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R), Dr. Findley’s groundbreaking work laid the foundation for the global fascia research movement.


In celebration of his 70th birthday, and in recognition of his profound contributions, the Findley Fascia Fellowship Fund was created by the Fascia Research Society with generous matching support from Dr. Findley himself. When Tom passed away, his wife donated all memorial donations given to her to further support the fund, in his name. 


This fellowship honours Dr. Findley’s life-long commitment to mentorship, inquiry, and the advancement of fascia research.


Dr. Thomas Findley’s legacy lives on in every student, clinician, and researcher furthering the field of fascia science. This fellowship reflects his vision: a diverse, rigorous, and collaborative community advancing health through fascia research.

 

The Fellowship covers:
The Findley Fascia Fellowship provides travel and research support for students conducting fascia-related scientific research, enabling them to attend and present at the International Fascia Research Congress.


Award decisions are made by the Fascia Research Society Board based on scientific merit and available funding, at the time of the Congress.
 

 

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be enrolled in a post-graduate degree program or post-doctoral fellowship (e.g., MD, DO, PhD, MSc programs)

  • Research involving human or animal participants must have received Ethical Board approval from your institution, prior to data collection.

1.    Name or title of graduate degree, year awarded or expected
2.    University or institutional affiliation
3.    Name of mentor, advisor or supervisor
4.    Postdoctoral position (if applicable)
5.    Title and abstract of research project, including Ethical approval (if applicable)
